Most supplements can help you with some basic things, like reducing inflammation after a rough workout or boosting your fat-burning potential. However, there’s also a handful of treatments out there that actually do a lot more than you might think.
For instance, Boswellia Serrata is a substance typically used for reducing joint and whole-body inflammation, but it could be capable of so much more than this too. In fact, some studies suggest that it might be able to help fight off cancer.
So, what’s the truth?
Well, by the time you’re finished reading, you’re going to find out. Here, we’re going to cover everything you need to know about Boswellia Serrata, and what it can do for your body.
What is Boswellia Serrata?

Most people pair Boswellia Serrata with curcumin to help make the most of its antioxidant potential. However, there is a lot more to this substance than antioxidants alone. The benefits of Boswellia often tie into it’s properties as an anti-inflammatory substance.
People who take Boswellia Serrata swear it helps with everything from intestinal inflammation to joint inflammation. Additionally, this substance can help to support overall better health. Some more drastic claims suggest that the herb is excellent for reducing headaches, improving mood, and boosting your immune system.
So, what’s the real deal with Boswellia Serrata?
Inflammation and Boswellia Serrata
The primary function of Boswellia Serrata is to inhibit an enzyme in your body known as LOX or Lipoxygenase. This substance turns otherwise anti-inflammatory mediators in your body into inflammatory ones. It’s probably one of the most important enzymes out there when you’re looking for a way to improve the inflammatory defenses in your body.

Various studies have shown potent results when Boswellia Serrata is used to treat problems like ulcerative colitis. For instance, this study found that it was possible to reduce the size of the pancreatic tumor by half in a mouse using Boswellia Serrata. Other studies have since backed these results up.
Although it’s difficult to say anything for certain at this time, it may be that the reason for this herb’s anti-cancer effects is that it’s an anti-inflammatory substance that suppresses the invasion and growth of tissue in the body.

The most important thing to remember if you’re looking to accomplish incredible results with Boswellia Serrata is that it’s just one herb- even if it appears to be a mighty and potent one. Just make sure that you follow the instructions given by your doctor when you’re taking it. As with any other herb, the last thing you want is for your new supplement to interact poorly with a medication that you’re already taking.
